Our Course Offerings

Michigan CPL Course

The "Armed Defense Course".

Course Content: : This level 1 foundation course will meet and exceed all State of Michigan requirements for CPL training. The level 1 designation indicates that this is a foundation course to get you started in proper defensive firearms use. This course also includes training components of the NRA Basic Pistol course and the complete NRA Personal Protection Inside The Home (PPITH) training or The MCRGO Concealed Pistol Course. Both Classes are recognized by the State of Michigan as authorized CPL training courses. The course is approximately 9 hours of classroom/range time and 3 hours of pre-course preparation done by the student before they come to class. Our course is longer than the typical 8 hour CPL course that others offer for a reason, more time is spent on the Law to help keep you out of trouble and more time is spent on the range to improve your skills.

The "Armed Defense Course" consists of 3 modules of training

. Module 1: Precourse Preparation: This includes approximately 3 hours of course prep consisting of watching various training videos, website study and training manual/materials study that need to be completed prior to the first class session. Students must review all the material provided.

Module 2: Classroom instruction: This includes approximately 5 hours of classroom training on topics including but not limited to: Brief review of online material with question and answer session. Firearms safety, function, operation, handling and cleaning. Firearms laws and regulations of Michigan. Manual/test review. Self protection issues, use of force considerations and other critical issues.

DO NOT bring any GUNS or AMMO into the classroom.
If you do not have a pistol you can rent one for the range session.

Bring all notes, materials and tests from your pre-course study to the first class sessions. You will need to take additional notes during the classroom portions of training. Written exams will be scored and reviewed during the classroom portion of the course.

Module 3: Practical (Range instruction): This includes approximately 3 hours of practical range training. Training includes but not limited to: firearms safety, function, operation, handling and cleaning. Step by step shooting fundamentals and will progress to additional shooting procedures.

Both dry fire and live fire shooting will be included for all practical instruction. Students will be required to pass a firearms handling practical test but also must pass a "shooting qualification" test. Follow the training we provide you and the qualification will not be difficult.

Please note: Ammunition is not included in the course fee. The "round count" will be 100 rounds (this is over 3 times the state required minimum). Yes, we know ammo is expensive and promise we will be shooting every round for a specific reason. Consult with us regarding ammo prior to the course if need be.

We will have .22 cal ammo available for purchase and .22 cal pistols on hand to rent.

Eye and ear protection is mandatory. Shooting glasses and some hearing protect (muffs) are available for the course. Ear plugs will be available for purchase.

You must let us know what type/caliber of pistol and type of ear/eye protection you intend to utilize prior to the course.

Upon completion of all 3 training module requirements you will be certified at "Armed Defense Level 1" and in the NRA Personal Protection Inside The Home (PPITH) or the MCRGO CPL Course . These certifications will meet and go well beyond the training requirement for obtaining a CPL in Michigan. The cost for this course is $100.00. If you would like you can rent a gun and buy ammo for 20 dollars more so the all-inclusive price would be $120.00

The fees include coffee and bottled water as well as a great lunch. If you would like to bring other NON alcoholic beverages or snacks feel free.

Training sessions will be conducted in the Hemlock, Michigan area. .

Build Your Own AR 15

People take great pride in building their own rifle but not all of us have the knowledge, skills or experience to do that. For that reason we have developed this course. No tools are required to take this class; everything needed to build YOUR AR Rifle will be provided! The only prerequisite for this class is a basic knowledge of firearms and firearm safety and that you are legally able to purchase a firearm. This will require the person who is buying the gun to be 21 years of age as that is the requirement to buy the AR lower from a FFL dealer. If you have questions about this please call before registering. The class cost covers the cost of the Rifle Kit.
You will be building AR rifles in .223/5.56 or 300blk caliber ( Depending on Availability). These rifles will be assembled (by you) from new parts, using US-made Mill-Spec receivers, US-made barrels, 10″ Full Float Handguards (Key Mod), Low Profile Gas Blocks etc.. ( Again available parts at time of ordering will dictate the build. )This 12-hour course will show you how to build your own AR platform and you will walk out of class with a functioning rifle.
Learning the ins and outs of building the AR platform is almost as much fun as shooting it.

Wrap around eye protection, ear protection, and a hat with brim required. Wear appropriate range attire! Dress for the weather and the bugs as we will be going to the range for function testing. You will be able to get a basic Zero for your rifle with Iron sites but this is not a full Zeroing session and its intent is Correct Safe Function of your rifle. .

We will not leave the facility for this class

This course is $900.00 per person and as with all of our classes payment in full is required to register. Please see the policies page before registering for class as it will address refunds. If for some reason you cancel before the class takes place you will still get to take the rifle kit you purchased as that purchase will not be refunded for any reason
